Description
Summary:Different criteria of the ionosphere F region quietness and disturbance are discussed based on vertical-incidence sounding data. The analysis of ionospheric data will be less dependent on those of a particular station when a regional “meta-median” is introduced as the median among a number of local monthly medians. The helpfulness of a meta-median shows up when quietness, negative and positive disturbances are identified in topside sounding data over Europe.
