Summary:The synthesis of in situ formed TiC/Al composites utilizing the reaction between molten aluminium and preforms consisting of unreacted Ti and C powders was studied. The results show that the synthesizing temperature has a great effect on the microstructure of the composites and as long as it is chosen adequately, tailored TiC/Al composites can be prepared.
