High strain rate superplasticity of AlN particulate reinforced 1N90 pure aluminum composite
The superplastic characteristics of 1N90 pure aluminum as well as AlN/1N90 pure aluminum composite, fabricated by P/M method and hot-rolled after extrusion, were investigated. The strain sensitivity (m value) of the AlN/1N90 pure aluminum composites is about 0.3 and the total elongation of the compo...

Summary: | The superplastic characteristics of 1N90 pure aluminum as well as AlN/1N90 pure aluminum composite, fabricated by P/M method and hot-rolled after extrusion, were investigated. The strain sensitivity (m value) of the AlN/1N90 pure aluminum composites is about 0.3 and the total elongation of the composite of the composite become 100-200% in the strain rate range from 0.02 up to 1.0-1 s at 913K. The 1N90 pure aluminum alone indicates an m value of about 0.45 and the total elongation of 200% in the strain rate range from 0.002-1 s at 913K. Grain sizes of 1N90 pure aluminum alone and AlN/1N90 pure aluminum composite after super plastic deformation are about 2 m. EDS analysis at the interface and on the matrix of the AlN/1N90 pure aluminum composite indicates only aluminum and carbon. The predominant deformation mechanism of both materials is grain boundary sliding. |
