Summary: | A concise overview of the hydrocarbon potential and geopolitics of the Caspian region, a forecast of the region's export options, and projects of export revenues set against an oil price scenario analysis are presented. It is concluded that the first pipeline to be built may remain the main option for a considerable period of time. Furthermore, if the operators can increase the capacity of the Baku-Supsa pipeline that is being built for early oil purposes from 100,000-200,000 b/d to 400,000 b/d as speculated, this may be the primary option. Finally, even under the most optimistic price scenario, oil export revenues for companies may not be sufficient to cover capital expenditures necessary to develop resources. |
