Summary: | A new interest in the nature of design research looks at the very nature of design as neither a science nor an art, but as a discipline having its own purposes, values, measures and procedures. But these have not been extensively investigated and codified, so there is not a \+i\knowledge base\-i\ for design. Yet, it is reasonable to think that there are areas of knowledge and ways of proceeding that are very special to design, and it seems sensible that there should be ways of building knowledge that are especially suited to the way design is studied and practiced. |
