Summary: | The potentiodynamic polarization behavior of Mm-alloyed iron aluminides (Fe sub 3 Al) reveals that rare earth additions are beneficial as regards passivation of Cr-alloyed iron aluminides. The major effect of Mm additions appears to be in the alteration of the nature of the passive film such that lower passive current density is obtained. The critical current density for passivation, the passive range, the zero current potential and the breakdown potential are not significantly affected by Mm additions to Cr-alloyed iron aluminides. |
