Effect of validation procedure on step noise amplitude in LDV spectra evaluation
The evaluation of turbulence power spectra from velocity data acquired by LDA is considered. An analysis of the effect of the validation procedure, implemented in many data processors, on the power spectrum obtained by the sample and hold method is reported and compared to experimental results. Summary: | The evaluation of turbulence power spectra from velocity data acquired by LDA is considered. An analysis of the effect of the validation procedure, implemented in many data processors, on the power spectrum obtained by the sample and hold method is reported and compared to experimental results. The existence of a new term in the measured power spectrum step noise is predicted and experimentally verified, and a procedure for eliminating spectral bias and estimating the Taylor time scale is suggested and applied.
