Summary: | The present study complements previous computational work by providing the necessary experimental validation for the numerical simulations and by identifying and expanding novel features of the CO/H2/O2 nonpremixed ignition system. These new features include the chemiluminescent glow encountered prior to flame ignition and its variation with hydrogen concentration and pressure, and the effects of strain rate on CO/H2 ignition in the limit of low hydrogen concentrations.
