Description
Summary:Liquid flame combustion is investigated using many of the simplifications introduced by Shkadinsky et al. (1996), but with more realistic chemical kinetics. The model used, although greatly simplified, is shown to be quite useful. It is shown, in particular, that whether or not one dimensional uniformly propagating combustion waves exist may depend on gravity for certain systems and that such solutions may be nonunique when they exist. It is also shown that enhancement or suppression of the reaction due to relative motion of the reactants and/or products in a gravitational field may effect the propagation velocity of the combustion wave.
