Summary: | A two-step electrodeposition method was developed to prepare hydroxyapatite (HAP)/metal composite coatings. Cobalt was chosen as the depositing metal for the demonstration. This paper reports the results to illustrate the viability of the technique. If biocompatible metals, alloys or metallic oxide are embedded into HAP coating by this method, it is shown that a superior bonded composite coating of unaltered crystalline HAP that could be used on implants can be obtained. |
