Description
Summary:The present work is devoted to an experimental study of the speed C sub d of propagation of ultrasonic vibrations in titanium and its alloys in a wide temperature range. The speed of sound bears information on the structural, magnetic, and other transformations in metals and alloys. We established the temperature ranges of structural and phase transformations in pure titanium and in titanium alloy VT20. The variation of the acoustic properties of titanium alloys is determined by the properties of alpha - and beta -titanium, the effect of the alloying elements on the properties of both modifications of titanium, and the proportion of the alpha - and beta -phases in the alloy.
