Magnetic and transport properties of perovskite-related strontium molybdates

We have synthesized strontium molybdates (SMO) SrMoO 3 and Sr 2MoO 4, analogous to strontium ruthenates (SRO) e.g. the ferromagnetic metal SrRuO 3 and the spin-triplet superconductor Sr 2RuO 4. Polycrystalline SrMoO 3 and Sr 2MoO 4 show Pauli-paramagnetic susceptibility between 2 K and 300 K. There...

Description
Summary:We have synthesized strontium molybdates (SMO) SrMoO 3 and Sr 2MoO 4, analogous to strontium ruthenates (SRO) e.g. the ferromagnetic metal SrRuO 3 and the spin-triplet superconductor Sr 2RuO 4. Polycrystalline SrMoO 3 and Sr 2MoO 4 show Pauli-paramagnetic susceptibility between 2 K and 300 K. There is no sign of any long range ordering for both compounds. Considering enhanced electronic specific heat, we concluded Wilson ratio for both SMO to be about two. This suggests that ferromagnetic correlations are not substantial in those SMO in contrast with SRO.
