Summary:Claire Nicolet makes use of the media of drawing, painting and engraving to explore autofiction. At the Musee Guimet in Paris, she will be taking part in Bons baisers de Pekin {until February 27th, 2023).The exhibition has been organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Yishu 8 residency, of which she was one of the recipients in 2018. Alongside the works of Li Xin, Nathanaelle Herbelin, Claire Tabouret and other French and Chinese residents from the Maison des Arts in Beijing, Claire Nicolet will be exhibiting Quise souvientde nous?(2022). In this painting, we discover a large-format hybrid landscape embellished with greens and blues. A forest of shrubs, in the foreground, grows on the surface of the waves. The painting represents an aquatic landscape, but the marine space is also evocative of mountains, and the many trees, with fine and meticulous contours, are partly the product of the artist's invention.
