Description
Summary:When a layer of fluid is excited using a vertical periodic acceleration, a subharmonic behaviour can be obtained called Faraday instability. It is well known that dynamic processes are generated by Faraday instability. However, only qualitative experimental results have been obtained in this regard. This work reports an original method based on a capacitive transducer to study and reconstruct the moving surface in Faraday experiments. The technique is accurate and a quantitative measurement of the surface displacement is achievable. 2 important results have been obtained: the numerical reconstruction of the patterns appearing on the surface because of Faraday instability; and the dynamic evolution to chaos of a localized point on the surface.
