Description
Summary:The AC susceptibility was measured on mono-core BiSCCO-2223/Ag tapes with elliptical cross section in perpendicular magnetic field. The AC field dependences of the imaginary part of the complex susceptibility obtained from data measured with zero DC magnetic field, apparently match very well the theoretical model for thin strip in perpendicular field. While in zero DC field the strip model seemed applicable, we found it is no more appropriate when a DC field was superimposed. Therefore we elaborated a model for tape with elliptical cross section with the help of numerical simulations. In non-zero DC field the measured AC field dependences of the imaginary part of the complex susceptibility at constant temperature match well the model for ellipse. Our conclusion is, that in zero DC field the dependence of the critical current on B is significant and the tape exhibits strip-like behavior. In non-zero DC field when the critical current density can be considered as constant, the tape behaves, as expected from its elliptical geometry.
