Summary: | (Hg0.9Re0.1)Ba2CaCu2Oy [(Hg,Re)-1212] thin-film grain-boundary junctions were fabricated on SrTiO3 (STO) and (LaAlO3)0.3-(SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3)0.7 (LSAT) bicrystal substrates with different misorientation angles q. The junctions on STO exhibited resistively-shunted-junction like I-V characteristics for q greater than or equal to 20 infinity, and large IcRn products of 0.71 and 1.9 mV were observed at 77 and 4.2 K, resp., for q = 20 infinity junction. In the films on STO, however, a large amount of precipitates due to the reaction at the interface with the substrate were observed along the bicrystal boundaries. On the other hand, precipitates did not exist along the bicrystal boundaries in the films on LSAT. The junctions on LSAT exhibited more homogeneous current distribution and larger IcRn products at 4.2 K for the same misorientation angles than those for the junctions on STO, being consistent with the more ideal morphology of the grain boundaries. 26 refs. |
