Summary: | Indian MST radar is operated in a special mode to retrieve temperature and humidity profiles. Temperature is estimated from the Brunt-Vaisala oscillations and is compared with the radiosonde-measured temperature. These temperature values are used to derive the humidity. A good agreement is found between the radar retrieved temperature and humidity profiles and radiosonde profiles. Limitations of this technique are also discussed. The contributions of temperature, specific humidity and the gradients of specific humidity to refractive index gradient, M, for different seasons are presented. |
