Summary:We have studied the kinetics of high-pressure sintering of a composite SiC(C)-Si sub 3 N sub 4 powder of a certain phase composition. We consider structuring and mechanical properties of the ceramics obtained on the basis of this powder. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal sintering time under high pressure for a composite powder with high content of a solid solution of carbon in SiC, based on analysis of the kinetic dependences for the properties, and also to study the mechanical characteristics of the ceramics obtained.
