Synthesis and Structure of Layered Manganese Oxychalcogenides: Sr2CuMnO3S and Sr4Cu2Mn3O7.5Q2 (Q=S, Se)

New layered manganese oxychalcogenides with alternating Cu2Q2 and perovskite oxide layers have been synthesized, where the perovskite oxide layers are (MnO2)(SrO)(SrO)(MnO2) and (MnO2)(SrO)(MnO1.5)(SrO)(MnO2) for Sr2CuMnO3S and Sr4Cu2Mn3O7.5Q2 (Q=S, Se), respectively. Jahn–Teller distorsion due to M...

Description
Summary:New layered manganese oxychalcogenides with alternating Cu2Q2 and perovskite oxide layers have been synthesized, where the perovskite oxide layers are (MnO2)(SrO)(SrO)(MnO2) and (MnO2)(SrO)(MnO1.5)(SrO)(MnO2) for Sr2CuMnO3S and Sr4Cu2Mn3O7.5Q2 (Q=S, Se), respectively. Jahn–Teller distorsion due to Mn3+ is evident in both compounds.
