Summary: | Based on the model of electric dipole radiation, the conversion efficiency and the spatial distribution of second harmonic generation (SHG) in the form of Cherenkov radiation in a periodically poled LiNbO sub(3) waveguide have been analyzed. Numerical calculations show that the SHG efficiency in a periodically poled waveguide is much higher than that in a waveguide without periodical polarization. Furthermore, the relation between the conversion efficiency and the wavelength has been obtained, which shows that the wavelength of the peak conversion efficiency varies correspondingly when the waveguide thickness varies. This result demonstrates that it is possible to compensate the fabrication error of the waveguide thickness by tuning the wavelength to get a high efficiency. |
