Description
Summary:The paper presents the linear transient response analysis of laminated stiffened plates. The work is based on a new laminated stiffened plate element recently developed which can accommodate any number of arbitrarily oriented stiffeners within the plate element and obviates the need to use the mesh lines along the stiffeners. Thus the mesh generation is not constrained by the disposition of the stiffener and is based more on the choice of stress resolution sought. The formulation is based on the first order shear deformation theory. The dynamic response analysis of a few laminated plates stiffened with blade/I-section/hat stiffeners under step load are carried out. Though some investigations have been reported on transient response of unstiffened laminated plates, the literature on laminated stiffened plates has not been reported.
