Summary: | Three new compounds viz., Ba2CeSnO5.5, Ba2LaSnO5.5 and Ba2NdSnO5.5, were prepared using a polymeric precursor decomposition method. The compounds were formed during the decomposition itself. The powders thus prepared were very fine with sizes in the nanometre range and had high surface area. The crystal structures of these new compounds were established and they had double perovskite structure. The XRD patterns of these compounds are indexed and compared with calculated d values. These powders could be sintered to more than 96% of theoretical density at a relatively low temperature of 1425-1475 C. 14 refs. |
