Description
Summary:The interactions of two arbitrarily oriented cracks embedded in a 2-D linearly elastic solid are analyzed. The problem is formulated in terms of a system of singular integral equations, the kernel of which is the basic solution to the problem of a dislocation interacting with a main crack existed in an infinitely extended medium. The coupled singular integral equations are solved numerically and the stress intensity factors at the crack tips are presented. Effects of some parameters related to crack’s orientation on stress intensity factors are discussed.
