Description
Summary:A new RPM technology, called High-speed Rapid Prototyping (HisRP), is proposed in this paper. The proposed HisRP has been developed by a combination of the multi-face high-speed machining process and a new flexible fixturing technique. The flexible fixturing technique could be readily applied to produce complex products, because low-melting point metal alloys are used to hold a workpiece with a complicated 3D shape. An automatic set-up device attachable to the table of the machine has also been developed to ensure the quality of products during a series of machining operations. The designed automatic set-up device is expected to be beneficial for multi-face high-speed machining of working material successively. The proposed HisRP process has shown to be a useful method to manufacture complex metal products such as thin-walled parts and mini-skulls. [Materials include Al7075 and Bi58-Sn.]
