AEROGEL NANOSCALE ALUMINIUM OXIDES AS A DESTRUCTUVE SORBENT FOR MUSTARD GAS
An autoclave hypercritical drying procedure was used to prepare alumina (alpha-Al2O3) precursors from aluminium sec-butoxide C12H27AlO3. The specific surface area was 1000 m2/g. The samples were characterised by XRD, DTA-TG, SEM and TEM. The precursors were used for experimental evaluation of their...

Summary: | An autoclave hypercritical drying procedure was used to prepare alumina (alpha-Al2O3) precursors from aluminium sec-butoxide C12H27AlO3. The specific surface area was 1000 m2/g. The samples were characterised by XRD, DTA-TG, SEM and TEM. The precursors were used for experimental evaluation of their reactivity with Mustard Gas (Yperite, HD agents, Bis(2-chlorethyl)sulphid). The largest percentage of the conversion of mustard into non-toxic products after a reaction time of one hour was 80%. 17 refs. |
