Summary: | Recycling of magnesium alloys produces scrap metal with high contents of copper, nickel and silicon. These impurities are not to be removed by remelting. The products thus have corrosion rates which lie well above those of high purity magnesium alloys. The aim is improving the corrosion properties of contaminated alloys, so that they can be used as secondary alloys in structural parts in spite of their high concentration of impurities. |
