Summary:The electronic structure of GdMnGe was studied by the X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and calculated with the use of the tight-binding linearized muffin tin orbitals (TB-LMTO) method. Spin-polarized calculations have shown that Mn and Gd d bands are strongly polarized and the Mn moment of 3.22 μ B is found directed oppositely to the Gd one. Based on the calculated partial density of states, the XPS spectrum has been simulated and compared with the experimental one.
