Summary:The ongoing merger talks between Mittal Steel Co. NV, Rotterdam, and Arcelor SA, Luxembourg, will hit a pivot point "in a few days," according to Guy Dolle, chairman of Arcelor. Dolle, speaking during an interview Tuesday at the Steel Success Strategies XXI conference in New York co-sponsored by AMM and World Steel Dynamics Inc., said that Arcelor hopes to take an improved offer from Mittal to its management board in the next several days. That offer would provide Arcelor shareholders with options that also include a tie-up between Arcelor and Russia's OAO Severstal.
