Summary:High-energy dry ball-mill and post-anneal processing were applied to synthesize MgTiO3 and Mg2TiO4 single crystalline phases from the predetermined compositions of MgO-TiO2 powder mixtures. Also, the experiments were performed to show that it is possible to prepare MgAl2O4 single crystalline phase from the predetermined composition of MgO-Al2O3 powder mixture only by employing high-energy dry ball milling, i.e. without post-annealing the milled samples. In contrast, fully developed single crystalline powders of MgTiO3 and Mg2TiO4 were obtained after post-annealing the milled samples for 1 h at 900 and 1200DGC, respectively.
