Description
Summary:In this paper, a new methodological approach for nucleic acid (DNA, RNA and PNA) detection and analysis is introduced. It is based on nucleic acids dielectric capacitance measurement performed by capacitive sensors. A sensor system exploiting the properties of miniaturized arrays of capacitive sensors is illustrated. The sensor array signal is processed by a proper software that converts the signals into an image. The extraction of information about the properties of nucleic acids is then obtained with classical algorithms for image analysis. Results show that the sensor can discriminate among different kinds of DNA and can provide an estimate of DNA concentrations.
