GHz-bandwidth optical intensity modulation in self-poled waveguides in strontium barium niobate (SBN)

Wide-band electrooptic intensity modulation at a wavelength of 1.3 μm has been demonstrated in single mode channel waveguides in SBN:60 without repoling the substrates after processing at elevated temperatures. Waveguide losses were /spl les/0.7 dB/cm for both polarizations.
