Description
Summary:A design technique is suggested in this paper for the realization of a generic nonlinear capacitor entirely from uniformly doped and standard MIS capacitors. A new capacitive element-capacitor doublet-is proposed which is used as the building block to achieve the required nonlinear capacitance. The method involves Q-V curve engineering to back trace the parameters of various doublets required to be connected in order to approximate the desired Q-V curve. One specific example of the design of nonlinear (logarithmic) capacitor required in a μ-law compander is discussed.
