Summary:Studies involving the synthesis of diamonds with semiconductor properties require the use of Mg-based alloys. Alloys of the Mg–Ni system were obtained under high pressures of 1.0 GPa, high temperatures of up to 1577 K and 5 min processing. A microstructural examination of these alloys confirmed that an alloy with a basic MgNi 2 composition and another with a 0.23 at.% Mg+0.77 at.% Ni composition were obtained. The phases identified in the Mg–Ni alloys produced under high pressure confirmed the effectiveness of the interaction of the initial component, suggesting that the crystallization process occurred at high velocity.
