Summary: | Greenhouse and livestock heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems are challenging to synthesize due to the fact that classical control synthesis and analysis tools cannot be applied. The discontinuous nature of the control signals has been tackled in the past using either approximating designs or rule-based and fuzzy control systems. This article presents a new methodology where an optimal predictive control law is employed to solve this interesting and challenging controller synthesis problem. The control signal is implicitly determined through the solution of a small-scale mixed-integer optimization problem. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. |
