Summary: | The writer thanks the discussers for their points raised, which seem to consist of two parts. The first considers a possible expla nation for the experimental results in the paper involving "the concept of discrete stiff chains of particles." The second involves Fig. 6 and a question and a prediction of what the PLAXIS study showed about plate settlements with different values of Ki. As to the first, the writer presented only experimental results and did not speculate about the sand-structure conditions that might have produced these results. Those interested in the "stiff chain" or any other concept now have some additional experimental data to consider. |
