Alkali extraction as a determinant in the selection of a glass for displays
Alkali ions are known to be detrimental to the performance and longevity of solid-state displays. Measured alkali extraction rates from several commercial sheet glasses with and without thin-film barrier layers are compared as an aid to material selection for LC, EL, and TFT devices. Alkali migratio...

Summary: | Alkali ions are known to be detrimental to the performance and longevity of solid-state displays. Measured alkali extraction rates from several commercial sheet glasses with and without thin-film barrier layers are compared as an aid to material selection for LC, EL, and TFT devices. Alkali migration mechanisms and their implications for accelerated testing and the role of moisture in solid-state displays are also discussed. |
