Description
Summary:Quasi-static crack closing in a linear viscoelastic orthotropic composite with a crack which is opened by the wedge of constant width is analyzed. The use of superposition allows us to develop exact equations for predicting free crack length as a function of time. These equations are solved numerically using operator continued fractions method. As an example of the proposed approach some results for the composite of silicate glass fibers and epoxy resin binder are presented.
