Summary: | The development of a small-gap capacitor, especially utilizable for studying finite-size effects near the 4He superfluid phase transition, is discussed. This device is designed to provide a range of known sample heights of small measure, commensurate with the ability to closely approach the superfluid transition, in which other variations in boundary conditions are avoided. In addition to the ability to adjust the gap of this capacitor at low temperature, parallelism can be maintained to a high degree. |
