Summary: | Computer science is a very young discipline, and a controversial, much-maligned, and misunderstood one - even among computer scientists. Some, in many cases computer scientists themselves, debunk it and even go as far as to question the need for its very existence. Why computer science education may be in crisis is examined. It is argued that evidence provided by accusers is largely anecdotal. An umbrella research question is proposed that could resolve these criticisms: Does computer science education meet the needs of its stockholders? |
