Description
Summary:Children of people who smoke are four times more likely to begin smoking than the children of people who do not smoke. [...]tobacco consumption cost France €156 billion in 2019, of which €16·5 billion was for health spending. The proposed ban will go to the upper house or Senate for a vote and to the European Commission for approval. The French Addiction Federation applauds cigarette price increases, wider public smoking bans, and free nicotine substitutes, but urges the government to adopt “more concrete measures for disadvantaged members of the general public”.
