Summary: | A method to describe the behaviour of an oscillating bubble near a free surface and a floating structure is described in this article using the boundary integral method. The free surface is modelled using a negative image of the bubble (and the submerged part of the structure) pertinent to a reasonably deep underwater explosion where the free surface remains almost flat. This approach obviates the need to model the free surface separately. Several examples are provided to show the combined complex interaction of the attraction of the bubble towards the solid surface, the repulsion by the free surface and the influence of gravity. |
