A generalized two-band model for the superconductivity in MgB2

The free energy of a two-band superconductor is obtained by taking into account all actual electron-phonon and Coulomb interactions. The temperature dependences of the superconducting gaps, the specific heat with its jump at T = Tc (Tc is the critical temperature) are calculated by minimizing the fr...

Description
Summary:The free energy of a two-band superconductor is obtained by taking into account all actual electron-phonon and Coulomb interactions. The temperature dependences of the superconducting gaps, the specific heat with its jump at T = Tc (Tc is the critical temperature) are calculated by minimizing the free energy. The theory is applied to the MgB2 superconductor. The Tc isotope effect is estimated and the accordance with the experiment is obtained.
