Description
Summary:A high-intensity powder diffractometer (HIPD) with 8 position-sensitive detectors (PSD) separated with radial shielding walls is currently under construction at the HANARO reactor, Korea. Since the space at beam port ST-3 is limited the take-off angle 2 θ M=90° and a comparatively short sample-to-detector distance of 1000 mm were chosen. Experiments with mosaic Ge and bent perfect Si monochromators were carried out to determine optimal design characteristics for such a compact multi-PSD powder diffractometer with medium resolution of Δ d/ d≈3.5×10 −3. The construction of HIPD is in final stage and commissioning of HIPD is scheduled to be in early 2006.
