Summary: | Rebound speed of tennis ball is the most important factor and it must be analyzed theoretically for the design of racket. This paper proposes a method of energy analysis to find the energy of each vibration mode by making use of modal analysis. The relation between rebound energy and each parameters of racket was discussed. The rebound speed could be improved by minimizing the useless vibration which did not contribute to the rebound. The useless energy could be decreased by matching the impact point with the node of the bending vibration modes, by increasing the mass of racket and by increasing the stiffness of racket. When the initial rotating speed of racket was large, the impact point must be away from the center of gravity of racket in order to decrease the energy of rotational mode. |
