Summary: | The North Carolina Educational Computing Service (NCECS), a division of the university system, serves a statewide network of over sixty public and private institutions. NCECS has traditionally been a retailer of computing service, purchasing machine time from the Triangle Universities Computation Center (TUCC), plus other suppliers including EDUNET. The associated services have included training, consulting, information services, software libraries and data communication facilities. However, in the case of the conferencing service described below, the system is operated entirely by NCECS. |
