Description
Summary:Colloidal crystals grown onto patterned substrates (see Figure) are characterized by microscopic imaging, optical diffraction, and, most effectively, laser diffraction. The surface pattern imposes a common, predetermined lattice orientation which extends to the entire thickness of the crystal, offering a promising bottom–up approach to the fabrication of photonic crystals.
