Measurements of the Meissner fraction as a function of oxygen ordering for oxygen deficient YBa2Cu3O7−δ single crystals

Description
Summary:The influence of oxygen ordering on the Meissner fraction (the ratio of field cooled to zero field cooled magnetization) on a number of YBa2Cu3O7-delta single crystals over a wide range of oxygen deficient states (15 K < =Tc < =60 K) has been investigated. The Meissner fraction increases in almost all cases with an increase in oxygen ordering. In only a few cases where the change in transition temperature is very small (DeltaTc < 2 K) following ordering is no discernible increase measured. We attribute these results to both intrinsic parameters that change with the ordering phenomenon, for example the lower critical field, and extrinsic effects such as the redistribution of oxygen vacancies.
