Description
Summary:Because of the high incidence of endemic goiter in some regions of Russia, timely diagnosis of patients with endemic goiter during mass scale prophylactic examination of the population is an urgent public health problem. Methods for measurement of thyroid hormone concentration in blood serum are regarded as the most accurate methods of diagnosis of thyroid pathology. However, these methods are invasive and expensive, which makes it difficult to use them for mass scale prophylactic examination. Therefore, development of rapid reliable and inexpensive screening methods of diagnosis is an urgent problem of prophylactic medicine. Reflexometry is believed to be such a rapid, reliable, and inexpensive diagnostic screening method. Its results are easy to obtain and correlate with hormonal research data.
