A robust near-wall elliptic-relaxation eddy-viscosity turbulence model for CFD

An eddy-viscosity model based on Durbin’s elliptic relaxation concept is proposed, which solves a transport equation for the velocity scales ratio ζ = υ 2 ¯ / k instead of υ 2 ¯ , thus making the model more robust and less sensitive to grid nonuniformities. Computations of flows and heat transfer in...

Description
Summary:An eddy-viscosity model based on Durbin’s elliptic relaxation concept is proposed, which solves a transport equation for the velocity scales ratio ζ = υ 2 ¯ / k instead of υ 2 ¯ , thus making the model more robust and less sensitive to grid nonuniformities. Computations of flows and heat transfer in a plane channel, behind a step and in a round impinging jet show all satisfactory results.
