Summary: | A preliminary joint experimental and theoretical study of the depolarized, I||(ν), binary interaction‐induced Raman scattering profile by a gaseous atomic mixture is reported for the first time. An absolute‐unit calibration of the recorded scattering cross‐sections of the mixture permitted a straightforward comparison of the data with cross‐sections obtained with quantum mechanics. As a working system the Ne–Ar mixture was chosen, for which modern interatomic potential and incremental anistropy models are available for all the atomic pairs involved.
